While we’re still in the Korean skincare hype, I figure I would write another review about another COSRX product I recently discovered. In my old post, I have already mentioned this product which I use on the last step of my night time skincare routine. It’s the COSRX Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask.
If you read my previous post, you would know that I obviously love the brand’s acid treatment. You’ll soon find out how I feel about its overnight mask. Spoiler alert: COSRX stole my heart.
Propolis extract (85%), butylene glycol, glycerin, betaine, 1,2-hexanediol, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, arginine, cassia obtusifolia seed extract, dimethicone, ethyl hexyl glycerin, carbomer, sodium hyaluronate, beeswax, allantoin, panthenol, sodium polyacrylate, adenosine
Let’s focus on the highlighted ingredient first. It’s the star of the show, the propolis. If you have not aware of it yet, propolis is the gold of Korean skincare ingredient. It’s made from substance collected by honey bees to seal their honeycomb. Propolis is antibacterial, anti-viral, and has anti-inflammatory properties. This is an exciting news for those with acne prone skin like me. On top of that propolis is also a great moisturizer as well as an anti-oxidant. Now ask me again why is it important to preserve honey bees.
The underlined ingredients are the ingredients that are comedogenic. However, according to its CosDNA analysis, the comedogenic level is only as high as 2. But that shouldn’t discourage you from trying this product as those ingredients only made up a small percentage of the ingredient. However, If you are sensitive to bee products, then don’t use it.
What it claims to do
COSRX Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask promises intensive hydration. Its natural gentle ingredients also claimed to be effective in soothing and nourishing skin. The anti-inflammatory properties of the propolis also lead me to believe that this product is a savior for acne prone.
How I use it
The special feature of COSRX Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask is its versatility. We can use it as a wash-off mask, sleeping mask, or night cream. I personally have only tried it as a night cream/sleeping mask. If you intend on using it as a wash-off mask then smother a good amount of it all over your face. For sleeping mask or night cream use lesser amount. Since I use it as a night cream then it falls into the very last step of my PM skincare routine.
What it did to my skin
I expect a lot from COSRX Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask since my first COSRX product gave me a great impression. And this product works just as I expected. At the first sight, the cream does look like honey. I thought it would be sticky but it’s not. Despite its rather thick consistency, it blends well and quickly into my skin. My skin just drinks it instantly.
The post application skin doesn’t look greasy at all especially if I massage it really well into my skin. I woke up the next morning with supple and dreamy skin. It doesn’t make me oily as my Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream does. This product also makes my skin feels more hydrated.
How much and where to get it
Again, COSRX impresses me with value for money product. I’ve searched for a quality night cream that doesn’t broke my bank and the give me just that. COSRX Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask is priced around Rp 180.000 (around $14) and quite easily found on Indonesian online seller.
Another COSRX product that I fell in love with. This is definitely goes into my holy grail list until I found a contender. Which I think it’s quite hard, value for money-wise.
I love a moisturizer that doesn’t make my face greasy, quite an easy requirement but hard to fulfill. Trust me, I’ve tried several moisturizers that make my face look greasy, oily and irritates my acne prone skin.
Packaging wise, I wouldn’t change a thing except, the ugly black lid which in my opinion ruins COSRX’s minimalist design. The jar package also makes it quite unsanitary but you can always use a spatula (unfortunately it’s not included). Other than that I’m happy with this product.
No complaint on the scent as well. It smells sweet, almost honey-like but not too strong. Even if you are highly sensitive to fragranced products it won’t bother you. The consistency is also smooth and dries out fast. A little of this product goes a long way.
Overall, I’m highly satisfied with this product. 4 out of 5 stars.
If you have other night cream or moisturizer recommendation, I’d really love to hear it. So please let me know all about those products you love in the comment section. xx
