Happy new year, my loveliest! It’s almost a week into the new year and I’m feeling inspired. That’s why I head over to my blog and decided that on the very first month of 2018, I’d make a 2017 reflection series. Because I just got into thinking that I’ve been taking 2017 for granted and fail to see that despite the dullness and meh-ness, 2017 did has it’s great moments too.
When I look back, these moments are definitely the highlights of my 2017. I feel ashamed that I let all the low points and dull moments got in the way of me being grateful for the previous year. So here’s my 2017 grateful list
Things I’m Grateful For In 2017
1.Best friends’ weddings
Two of my closest best friends got married in 2017 and I couldn’t be happier for them. We’ve been friends for more than a decade and I got to witness their relationship journeys. The ups and downs, the happiness and the heartbreaks. And it’s so relieving to see them finally found the partners who they’re going to go through their whole life with.
2.Getting closer to my boyfriend
Actually, we already started staying in the same country since the end of 2016. In case you didn’t know, my boyfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for 5 years. And for the first 3 and a half year we stayed in different countries (continents, even). So it was really great that in 2017 we could finally be in the same country, although still in different cities. But, at least we don’t need visa to visit each other and the plane tickets aren’t as steep so we could see each other at least once a month.
3.Made some new good friends
People who know me for a long time know that I’m an introvert with attachment issue. In other words, I find it hard to make new friends and keeping them. In 2017, I’m so grateful that I’ve met some lovely individuals who made their way into my life, whose presence I cherised and scored a permanent space in my cold dingy heart (lol.)
I had two wonderful birthdays to celebrate this year, my boyfriend’s and mine. Being in the same country, we finally been able to be at each other company on this special occasions. I’m grateful for the chance to fly back home on his birthday and being able to spend it with him and his family. I also got a chance to give him a nice little surprise for him which I could say that he absolutely loved it. For my own birthday, I didn’t expect much initially. I did fly back home and had a nice dinner with my boyfriend and he gave me a really great present. But, I didn’t expect to get a lot of surprises and cakes from the others, namely my work collagues, old uni friends, and some really great people. I’m so thankful because birthdays is one of my most favorite things in the world.
Although this might come as a surprise, I’m thankful for my job. I know I had a really intense roller-coaster ride in this particular element in 2017, but looking back it had it perks too. It allowed me to learn a lot, discover myself, and met really inspirational people. It also gave me a chance to travel and develop myself. And finally, at the very end of 2017, it gave me a chance to finally come home, after 7 years of being away from it, closer to my boyfriend, best friends, and family. So in the end, all is well.
What are you grateful for in 2017?
